In this age of always on, we?re expected to be always on? Right?

Wrong.

I love the film Notting Hill, where Hugh Grants character has no job so fills his day up by spending time in "units" of half hour. Playing pool= 1 unit, watching Countdown =1 unit etc. As not many of us have the luxury of not working, here are some tips to help you keep up with delivering on a deadline but without offending anyone or having to stay late in the office during the hot summer evenings. Sherly Sandberg even leaves at 5.30.

Shake it up and get organised. These tips could save you up to two hours in you work day.

1. Decline a meeting. Time saved 45 minutes.

Typical Scenario: you've too many meetings throughout the day and can't seem to get any actual work done. This is a common problem for everyone and one that I've been known to experience and actually enjoy. You're busy so you must be important, right?

Wrong.

Your manager wants you to hit your deadlines. You need to pick the most important meetings with actual deadlines and focus on these. If you are being invited to meetings not directly related to your projects in a 'it would be good to have you there' type of way, thank the organiser for invite but decline politely and ask for the meeting notes.? That way you can have more time during the day, still catch up on what happened at any meeting you really didn't need to be at and move on with what the stuff you are actually being paid to do.

2. Cut out ?The swing by?. Time saved 10 minutes

We know them. They're fun, the swing by person in the office who swings by for a chat. We all need little break and we know all work and no play makes a dull siren. But seriously, if you re under pressure let them know you'll catch them at lunch or coffee or over the next few days. Again, 15 minutes saved.

3. Surfing the web. Time saved 30 minutes

Right so it's important to check into your social networks, but when you have a deadline, a couple of hours not tweeting what your doing, pinterest-ing your favourite places, facebooking your mates to tell them how great and interesting you are will not only save you time, but will actually MAKE you more interesting. You'll have more to rant about when you get home after you meet that deadline. And you'll get promoted for being so good at your job. Then you'll be rich and everyone wants to hang out with rich people.

4. Quit doing personal stuff in work. Time saved 30mins

As I said, we?re always on and your social life needs organising. But if you're the siren or dude who always ends up organising your mates at the weekend, let it go. Let someone else pick up the slack or wait until Friday and wing it.? Bit of spontaneity never hurt anyone.

5. Early lunch.... Time saved 30 minutes

This little trick has a double bonus. Not only do you miss the sandwich / lunch queue so an easy 10 minutes saved there, but go for a bit of fresh air in between and when you re ready to get back to work, everyone else will have cleared out. You can eat in peace and plough through some work in relative serenity. And look like you?re working through for extra brownie points. Job done.

Think about how you can make a real impact with those two hours in your day, just by these slight adjustments. Not every day but a good exercise to follow when you re under pressure.

One of the more unusual specs offers some corroboration: the Adreno 320 graphics, which only come in the souped-up Pro or quad-core variants of Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon S4 chipset. That would make the LE970 a rare breed indeed, but unfortunately that's about all we can learn at this point. The actual benchmark scores tell us nothing about the handset's performance other than that it can max out the Egypt Standard test despite its 1280 x 720 screen -- making it impossible to compare it to regular Snapdraon S4 phones like the HTC One X on AT&T or the HTC One S. Oh well, where are those lens wipes?

Criminal Minds' Joe Mantegna: Our Returning Troops Need Jobs

Criminal Minds star Joe Mantegna has a message for Americans this Memorial Day: Our veterans need jobs.

Mantegna, who will return as co-host of Monday's National Memorial Day Concert on PBS with fellow CBS star Gary Sinise, is also actively working with America Wants You!, a new initiative that encourages corporate America to hire men and women returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Mantegna and Criminal Minds co-star Thomas Gibson have also filmed PSAs to spread the word.

"When you meet people who've had a lot of military training, they're America's finest," Mantegna tells TVGuide.com. "They're just dedicated, respectful, hard-working. They have all those qualities that you would hope they would have. So, to me, it was a no-brainer."

Mantegna says hiring vets is an easy way to give back to those who have dedicated themselves to protecting our country. "They've fought and served so we can have a free country, so we can have the choices to do the things we want to do, whether its choice of religion or freedom of speech. Or even hiring a person to do a job," Mantegna says. "It's an ironic situation. They're fighting for freedoms that allow you to not hire them too if you want. But I think we can help them along."

America Wants You! estimates that there are 800,000 veterans out of work. Mantegna knows that the PSAs won't solve the problem by themselves, but he remains committed. "At least by increasing the awareness, [we're] letting people know to be sensitive to it," He says. "[Employers] should give them a consideration, knowing that their lives have been disrupted for, sometimes, years. I grew up through Vietnam, and I thought that took a long time. And the Vietnam Era was actually shorter than [Iraq]. So, it's been quite a hardship for many of them. I think they can use a little boost up."

Mantegna, who says he has lots of military connections in his family, says his support of the troops grew stronger once he became involved with PBS' National Memorial Day Concert 11 years ago. "I was so taken by the whole event," he says. "What I was actually most taken by was by the non-politicalness of it. I've been an independent my whole life, so I distrust organizations to tell you the truth. You get more than three people together and I get nervous. But I came away from that whole experience with the feeling that our military really needs our help [and] our support. When the stuff hits the fan, those are the guys that are called upon to do the dirty work."

Pieces of this issue may even make it onto Criminal Minds. Because of his character Rossi's military background on the show, Mantegna had pitched a story idea even before he became involved with America Wants You! "We already have the bones of the story line, and I am fairly assured it will be happening this coming season," he says. "It will encompass partly just what we're talking about. The character is a vet that falls on hard times."

Mantegna says he hopes the initiative grows and that he can continue to be a part of it. "If it does what it's supposed to do, if it's successful in any way, that'd be great," he says. "And if there's anything that can be done to improve it, I'm certainly game. But there are people who are working 365 days out of the year to make this stuff happen. They deserve the thanks. I mean, I'm just putting a face on it. I don't really need any thanks for that. I hit the jackpot in being able to do what I do."

And Mantegna says it's not just corporate America that owes veterans a debt. "When you see somebody in uniform, it's a great gesture to just kind of give them a smile and reach out your hand and say thanks for your service," Mantegna says. "I think it goes a long way."

Weight Loss Success: Aaron Detweiler Cut Out Fast Food And Lost 75

How I Gained It: In my early 20s I was in really good shape, but after I started working full time I lost all ambition for working out. I would eat fast food almost daily for lunch, and even had more days than I wish to count where I had it for lunch and dinner. I work in an office, so on top of my horrible eating habits, I was in a chair eight hours a day and after work would just go home and eat dinner and watch TV. The scale slowly climbed ? first to 220 then 240, and I kept telling myself I wouldn?t get heavier than that. In June of 2010, after a vacation to Texas, I got home and the scale read 263.

Breaking Point: After a few months of telling myself I was going to lose all the weight every Monday only to be back to my old habits by Tuesday, I got to the point where it all clicked one week in November of 2010, and I haven?t looked back.

How I Lost It: The first few months were just eating healthy and completely eliminating fast food and snacking at night. I dropped around 30 pounds in six weeks by just doing these simple things. The first week was really difficult, but after I developed my new eating routine it never even fazed me.

During the week, my dinners are either chicken or fish with rice or pasta and a lot of raw veggies. On the weekends, I will loosen up a little with what I eat, but I try not to overdo it on portions if I do eat something unhealthy. Usually lunch is either a tuna sandwich or a leftover chicken breast and veggies from the night before. I always eat breakfast, either eggs or oatmeal, and I hardly ever snack between meals. I found hrough logging food on myfitnesspal that just a handful of snacks here and there throughout the day can easily add up to 300 to 400 calories, and you don?t even know it.

Once I began to see my body changing it kept the fire alive and pushed me even harder. After the first few months I began lifting weights and running, which sped up my weight loss. I was down to 210 pounds by March of 2011. I have slowly been losing the last 20 pounds by working out five days a week, running and lifting. I started the process wanting to get to 200 pounds, and when I got there, I wasn?t satisfied. Now I want to get in the best shape of my life.

Now, I have 20 times the energy I used to have. At my heaviest just playing nine holes of golf, even with a cart, would make me tired for the rest of the day. I can run around all day and rarely get tired. I?m so thankful I finally committed to doing this now, because I was going down an unhealthy path that could have led anywhere. I?ve completely rebooted everything I knew about eating and will carry these principles with me for the rest of my life. When I think back to how I used to eat and how lazy I was, I still get mad at myself, but I am thankful I was given the strength to correct it and start over before it was too late.
